Cassette & under-ceiling · Brisbane

Ceiling cassette air conditioners for discreet, even comfort

Cassettes sit flush in the ceiling and spread air in every direction, which makes them a favourite for offices, shops and cafes. Under-ceiling units suit spaces without a ceiling void. We supply, install and service both.

Cassettes, explained

What is a ceiling cassette air conditioner?

A ceiling cassette air conditioner is a split system whose indoor unit is built into the ceiling, with only a square grille showing. Most cassettes blow air out of four sides, so they cover a wide area evenly and suit open-plan offices, shops, cafes and large living areas. An under-ceiling unit is the alternative when there's no ceiling void: it mounts against the ceiling surface and throws air a long way across the room.

Compared with a wall split, a cassette is less visible and spreads air more evenly, but it needs ceiling space above and a condensate drain, and usually costs more to install. Coola Air Conditioning supplies, installs and services cassette and under-ceiling systems across Brisbane's northern suburbs, from Narangba to the Brisbane CBD.

Why cassettes

Out of sight, and the air goes everywhere

A cassette keeps walls clear and spreads air evenly, so there is no blast zone near the unit and no dead spots across the room.

Flush with the ceiling, keeping walls free for shelving and signage
Four-way airflow for even coverage of open spaces
Under-ceiling options where there's no ceiling void
Correctly sized and positioned for the space
Cassette or wall split?

Where cassettes make sense

A wall split is often the simpler choice for a single room. A cassette earns its place in larger, open or public-facing spaces.

Open-plan spaces

Four-way airflow covers a wide floor area evenly from the centre of the room.

Shops and cafes

Keeps walls clear for stock, displays and signage, and looks tidy to customers.

Offices and meeting rooms

Quiet, discreet comfort without units on every wall.

Needs ceiling space

A cassette needs room above the ceiling and a drain run. We check this on the site visit.

Under-ceiling alternative

Mounted to the ceiling surface for spaces with no void, throwing air a long distance.

Easy to service

Filters drop out of the grille for cleaning, and servicing doesn't mean opening walls.

Cassette FAQs

Ceiling cassette questions, answered

Everything you need to know before you book. Still unsure? Just give us a call.

Both are split systems with an indoor and outdoor unit. A cassette's indoor unit is built into the ceiling and usually blows air four ways, while a wall split mounts on the wall and blows in one direction. Cassettes spread air more evenly and are less visible, but need ceiling space and usually cost more to install.

It depends on the capacity, the ceiling and access above it, the pipe and drain runs and where the outdoor unit goes. We assess the space for free and provide an itemised quote.

Yes, as long as there's enough ceiling space above. Cassettes are popular in large open-plan living areas where a wall unit would be in the way.

An under-ceiling unit mounts against the ceiling surface rather than inside it, so it suits spaces without a ceiling void, such as exposed roofs and some shopfronts. It throws air a long way across the room.

They need the same regular servicing as any split: clean filters, coil and a clear condensate drain. The drain matters most, because a blocked drain is the usual cause of a leaking cassette.
